About Morgan

First some personal stuff – I am 27 and have a wonderful husband and a new baby. I am a dachshund nut and own two! I live in beautiful Washington State. I work for a wonderful retail store as an operations manager. I am a running fanatic and have a great group of friends who share similar goals! This blog is a story on how I progress through my life and meeting goals to go onto greater challenges.

It is time to get serious about my fitness. I am a serious runner and want to be forever. I am also fat. Since I am so passionate about running it is about time to really focus on dropping the extra pounds and being the best runner I can be. I am starting this blog at 230lbs – my goal is to get to 170 and maintain. 170 may seem heavy for a woman but I am a giant. Well not toooo giant – I stand 5 foot 9 inchs tall but I have a broader body then many men. I just quite literally have a very large bone structure.

Over the next few years I want to try to try as many new fitness things as I can find. I am a runner, but I plan on dabbling in whatever else I fancy.. biking.. swimming.. yoga.. strength training.. etc. I will tell you what works and what doesn’t. I’ll share recipes and you can see my progress!

For my efforts I have decided to give myself a treat. If I make it to 170lbs I am signing up for a weekend survival class. I would love to dabble with snowshoe racing, hiking, and rock climbing. Survival skills would be key in getting out into the wilderness with confidence. This is something to reward my efforts and help expand on future goals.

Short term goals:
Lose weight at a steady rate of 5-10lbs a month until I reach my goal weight
Run a 5K in under 30minutes
Participate in a bike event
Learn to swim (better)
Complete a triathlon
Run my second half marathon

Long Term Goals:
Run a marathon
Run an ultra-marathon
Finish a half Ironman
Finish an Ironman
Learn to rock climb
Take up snowshoe racing
