Second trimester is awesome!

Well this last week has been good. I am in 2nd trimester territory. I am almost 15 weeks. I must tell you, I am feeling good!! Reasons why this trimester is better:

1 – I can sleep through the night
2 – Don’t have to pee quite as much
3 – Things smell normal again. (The weird smell thing is bizarre! I felt sick walking next to the tire department at Costco. Coffee smelled awful and I had to stay away from the deli in any grocery store!)
4 – I am getting a cute baby bump
5 – The overpowering fatigue is now gone and I have great energy levels! (No 15 minute nappy poo every 3 hours to make it through the day!)

Current cons I am experiencing:

1 – Slight cramping. Nothing unusual though!

That’s right! Only one con! I feel good.

I have been getting in about an hour or more of exercise about 5 days a week. This week I plan on doing 6. Next week 7. I want to just do something every day. I am doing pretty low impact stuff – nothing too crazy that I need to really recover from and I keep it pretty rotated with variety. Things I have been doing for exercise.

1 – Walking. Working on doing at least 3 miles at a time, which takes me a little under an hour. I do this about 4-5 day a week
2 – Swimming. I only swim about 30 minutes at a time. I have been doing this 3 days a week, but I am working on slowly increasing it to 4-5
3 – Strength training 2 days a week. Need to keep my muscles strong
4 – Dance class for 2 hours on Saturday. Last year I did the zombie dance of thriller for Halloween! I am going to do it again this year.
5 – Hoping to start prenatal yoga for 2 hours a week next week.

All in all, I have a pretty strong mix going on here. I BELIEVE! If anyone has any suggestions of things I should look into that worked well for them during pregnancy, please let me know!

For food, I am excited that I am pretty much back to eating normally. I have been tracking food to make sure my intake isn’t too high. I also can eat almost everything again. During the first trimester, you are a little limited because so many things taste and smell awful. My diet was pretty poor. The only things that settled well were high carb food. I had some trouble with protein and surprisingly a lot of veggies.

Now I seem to be doing muchhhh better and I look forward to actually eating a little more nutritionally sound.

Finally, the Snoopy belly is starting to come in nicely! 🙂

Aww, Morgan you look fantastic! I love the baby bump 😀 I’m so glad to hear that you are feeling better and are able to get back into a little routine. I remember how different smells would make my stomach turn. I had a hard time eating and craved cereal all the time. lol Are you having any cravings?

    • Morgan says:

I am not sure I really am having cravings. I did have a lot of food aversions though, so I had a small list of foods I would eat in the first trimester. Right now, the only thing I really look forward to eating is potatoes — I am trying to limit them to a couple times a week though. Lol

Love the baby bump! I didn’t get a cute bump until I was 7.5 months pregnant ,and by 9 months I just looked huge so i’m happy for you (and jealous). That’s AWESOME you’re staying active! I was active my entire pregnancy (Crossfit) and believe helps! You feel better, you don’t have the standard preggo aches and pains, and you recover faster.

Just keep at it, is my only advice. you’ll need to modify some stuff as you get bigger but really, just focus on keeping yourself from not getting overheated, and keeping yourself at a pace where you can talk. and…enjoy it. I normally eat very very very healthy, and while my diet wasn’t complete crap pregnant…I did indulge in more caffeine free mochas and christmas cookies than normal. I was a little more relaxed with my eating, and I still lost all the preggo weight fairly fast

Yeah, for being a first pregnancy I started showing pretty early. Although, my mom carried her babies right out front and high — and we have HUGE babies! (I was 10.5 lbs and my bro was a little under 10 — and it wasn’t because my mom gained to much weight or anything, my family just produces big people) — Lol at nine months I’ll probably be gigantic! 🙂

That is good to know that you lost the peggo weight fairly fast! I have been eating better now that I feel normal but the first trimester I pretty bad. Staying active is pretty important to me (mostly because hope to catch the tail end of triathlon season next year and hopefully get 1-2 races in.. Lol) I had a friend give birth about 4 weeks ago and she walked and did strength throughout her whole pregnancy and she looks AWESOME for being 4 weeks postpartum — Seeing how well she did really gets me out the door for my nightly walk — even if I don’t want to! 🙂
